Platinum Weekly newspaper | Rustenburg – The Rustenburg Local Municipality executive mayor councillor Shiela Mabale-Huma addressed the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium South Africa (SIDSSA 26) in Century City, Cape Town, on Monday, 24 August 2026.
The symposium brought together government and private-sector leaders to strengthen cooperation, attract investment and accelerate infrastructure development across Africa. Former South African president Thabo Mbeki was among the distinguished speakers.
Mabale-Huma highlighted the importance of bulk infrastructure in supporting industrial development and densely populated communities. She also announced plans for a one-stop shop, supported by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, to fast-track land-use, zoning and building-plan approvals. “Rustenburg is ready for business, ready for uptake and ready for investment,” she said, inviting investors and sector leaders to help transform Africa’s Platinum Capital into a leading metropolitan investment destination.
