Rustenburg – Four people died following a collision involving three vehicles along the N4 highway between Rustenburg Mall and the Kroondal offramp on Saturday 8 January. A culpable homicide case has been opened. 


Says ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring:

“ER24 and other emergency services arrived at 20h25 to find two vehicles on the road and a third in the veld.

Upon closer inspection, medics found a man and a woman lying trapped and motionless inside the small bakkie, trapped. Unfortunately, both had already succumbed to their injuries.” 


Trauma Rescue general manager Wentzel Dippenaar told Platinum Weekly: “Besides the two in the Nissan NP200 bakkie, Trauma Rescue and paramedics on scene were provided with advanced life support interventions and were transported to hospital.” 


Sadly, two more people involved in this accident succumbed to their injuries in hospital, bringing the total to four lives lost. 


We extend our sincerest condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.

ER24 and Trauma Rescue paramedics were on scene to assist the injured. 
MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management for the North West, Sello Lehari thanked emergency service personnel and law enforcement agencies who attended to the scene. He reached out to the loved ones of the deceased and said: “I pray that you are strengthened in this tough time. Please accept my sincere condolences.”
