Is Rustenburg still the jewel of the North West? [Letter to the editor]
Rustenburg – Our beautiful city Rustenburg is located close to Sun City which has two world-class golf courses designed by our very own champion Gary Player.
The Lost City hotel is legendary among South Africans and international guests for its five-star accommodation, excellent service, and fantastic food. There are a myriad of fun water rides and slides for kids and adults alike that compares to the best in the world. The casino at Sun City is the essence of gaming entertainment.
Take the scenic route through several nature reserves in and around Rustenburg. Visit Kgaswane Nature Reserve – it has very neat braai and picnic facilities with fun and interesting hiking trails. You can spot the big 5 at Pilanesberg National Park or treat yourself to a break away at Kwa Maritane.
We also boast with many holiday resorts in and around Rustenburg like Omaramba, ATKV Buffelspoort, and Rustenburg Kloof… to name a few. Spend a day with the predators at Akwaaba Predator Park where guests can interact with cheetahs and lions and view a few other big cats up close.
For the adrenalin junkie there is the Magaliesberg Canopy Tours with several ziplines and captivating Magaliesberg views. Ten Flags which is on the doorstep of Rustenburg offers paintball, helicopter rides, going for a spin in an exotic sports car, playing Ten-Pin Bowling, ice skating, go karts (on ice), arcade games, laser tag, bumper cars, zipline, and the list goes on and on… Hot Air Balloons taking you on a scenic route through Pilanesberg are also on the table.
The Paul Kruger Museum situated at Kedar Lodge is a must see for the more culturally inclined. There are several spas and wellness retreats in and around Rustenburg where one can be pampered and relax, while enjoying the professional treatment of the staff. Keep the kids busy at Pavilion Nursery where they can play and interact with farm animals, take them to Cheeky Ratbags Playpark, Party Paradise, or Rusties Lodge, you can pick and choose. These are just a few of the fun activities in the jewel of the North West province – our platinum city, Rustenburg.
Our hot summers and mild winters make Rustenburg the ideal all year-round destination. So, in my opinion Rustenburg is most certainly still the jewel of the North West.
