Rustenburg – Several electricity outages in East-End, Rustenburg, sparked a protest on Tuesday 1 June as residents took to the streets to vent their frustration.
Protestors, who barricaded the road at the corner of the R510 and Ridder Street, burnt tyres while demanding better service delivery from the Rustenburg Local Municipality (RLM). During the protest, Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor Martha Lerm warned motorists and road users to avoid the area. Electricity was eventually restored just before midnight.
