Rustenburg – Impala Rugby Club is looking forward to the 2021 season, and appeal for sponsors to help them meet the costs of activities such as the maintenance of their home ground.

Club chairman Wynand Burger hinted that the South African Rugby Union (SARU) could give the go-ahead for rugby matches to be played during the coming months.

“SARU are scheduled to hold the meeting on Monday 8 February and the outcome of that meeting is likely to determine when exactly the rugby matches will commence,” Burger told Platinum Weekly. “We do not have an exact date, but it is highly likely that SARU will allow rugby matches for clubs, schools, and universities to be played either in March or in April.”

In September of 2019, Newrak Mining ended their eight-year relationship with the Rustenburg-based club by announcing that they would no longer be their official sponsor. “It costs a lot of money to maintain the field as well as fulfilling the obligation of playing matches and we are desperately looking for a sponsor,” Burger pleaded.
