Man nabbed for unlicensed firearms
Brits – A 51-year-old man in Brits was arrested by the Hawks on Wednesday 16 September after he failed to give a proper explanation of how he acquired an assortment of firearms and ammunition that were found at his home.
The suspect was nabbed for illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition during an intelligence driven operation also involving police units from North West provincial crime intelligence and Brits tactical response.
Said Hawks spokesperson in the North West captain Tlangelani Rikhotso: “The suspect’s home was searched and an assortment of firearms and ammunition were found which included, a 9mm pistol, a shotgun, two rifles, a dart gun and a large quantity of ammunition. All exhibits were seized for further investigation.”
The Hawks are continuing investigations.
