Rustenburg – Hats on for Children’s Palliative Care #HatsOn4CPC is a worldwide campaign to raise awareness about the critical importance of children’s palliative care and children’s hospice services. It falls on the second Friday in October, which this year falls on Friday 9 October.

The day aims to raise funds for children’s palliative care, but more importantly, to raise awareness of the rights of very sick children with incurable and life-threatening illnesses to receive palliative care. Children’s Palliative Care (CPC) responds to the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of a child with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness as well as providing care for the child’s family. These children receive expert pain relief, assistance with symptom control and whatever emotional, social and spiritual support that is required to enable the affected child to enjoy the best quality of life possible. This care is provided by a compassionate team of people who all wear different, and sometimes many, hats!

To show your support for the amazing work these people do, get your #HatsOn4CPC sticker at Rustenburg Hospice at 4 Boshoff Street for only R10 and wear your favourite fun hat for the day. Make sure you take a selfie and share your photos on social media using the hashtag #HatsOn4CPC. Get your friends together and host your very own Mad Hatter’s tea party or have a hat-making party. You can also have a funky hat day at work or school.
