Ensuring the health and safety of learners and teachers at our local schools is an important part of how Anglo American Platinum continuously seek to enable young individuals to achieve academic excellence and realise their future career objectives.

Platinum’s Rustenburg operations handed out various personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Department of Education, Rustenburg sub-district, on 4 June – in line with a pledge they made to help strengthen the capacity of schools to successfully curb the spread of COVID-19.

They received infrared thermometers, handwashing soap, sanitisers and masks during the handover at the smelting operations' offices in Rustenburg.

“PPE are vital to schools and this gesture is our response to the department's call for assistance. We are giving back to the community,” remarked senior social performance (SP) and development manager Tumelo Dilotsotlhe.

Education authorities in Rustenburg will distribute the PPE to various schools in and around Rustenburg. Said Department of Education Rustenburg circuit manager Peter Mathe: “Thank you for helping our schools to fend off the COVID-19 threat.”
