AUDIT AND RISK SUB-COMMITTEE MEMBER - Platinum Weekly Ad
Term of Office and Remuneration package: The member will be remunerated according to the tariffs approved by the Department of Higher Education and Training. The Term of Office of the Committee will be performance based for a period of 36 months.
The successful candidate will advise College Management and Council, and play an oversight role on all finance-related matters.
A BCom Law Degree/Honours or LLB Degree • Ten plus (10+) years of Senior Management experience in the areas of Risk, Audit, Governance, Legal/law, Forensics and Finances
• At least two (2) years’ experience as a member of an Audit and Risk Committee or Executive Council • An understanding of applicable Finance/Accounting practices, Risk Management, internal controls, legislatives requirements in the public sector, accounting and audit practices applicable to the public sector • Professional certification
Participate in the design and testing of the effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls, sustainability of risk management and governance processes
• Collaborate with Internal Audit, Finance Department, External Audit and College Management to proactively strengthen financial controls and to ensure compliance with all applicable policies and regulatory requirements • Participate in the identification, evaluation and remediation of Finance risks with relevant stakeholders
• Provide and advise Finance Management in the implementation of industry leading practices • Ensure transparent communication of Finance activities and management processes to satisfy the College Council and other stakeholders
• Advice to the College Council on the strategic direction of Finance and alignment of Finance processes with sector imperatives • Regulate and discharge all responsibilities as contained in the Audit and Risk Sub-Committee charter, outlining the appropriate formal terms of reference • Attending all Audit and Risk Committee meetings
