Rustenburg – South African platinum producer Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) on Thursday, 19 October, said that they are dropping contractor JIC Mining Services.

JIC’s majority is owned by Oakbay Investments, the main company operated by the Gupta family.
“RBPlat is one of the latest South African companies to cut ties with companies linked to the Guptas,” Mpueleng Pooe of RBPlat told the Platinum Weekly newspaper on 25 October. The Gupta family and Zuma have denied any wrongdoing.

“It was a commercial decision, with effect from December 31. The notice period began at the beginning of October. The agreement between the parties entitles the company to terminate for convenience,” a spokesperson for RBPlat said.
