Rustenburg – Two young brothers, aged 10 and 11, were killed after being knocked over on the N4 highway, on Saturday 21 October.

“The two children were knocked down close to the Waterfall Mall when they crossed the N4 per foot. They were hit by a silver Mercedes Benz C-Class driving in the direction of Pretoria,” caption Elsabé Augoustides, police spokesperson, said.

They were on their way back after they did shopping with their mother and another brother of theirs. They live in a nearby complex on the other side of the N4.

When ER24 emergency rescue personnel arrived on the scene at about 10h05, both children were lying in the middle of the road. Unfortunately, the children were found not showing any signs of life and ER24 paramedics declared both the two boys dead on scene.

“Our sincerest condolences to the parents and brother of the deceased,” adds Augoustides. “Motorists are urged to look out for pedestrians. Pedestrians are urged not to cross the busy N4 on foot, especially with young children. Drivers are requested to drive cautiously as we approach the Festive Season – keep a safe following distance, and keep to the speed limit.”

A case of culpable homicide was opened are under investigation by the Rustenburg Detective Branch.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the mother, brother, family and friends of the two boys.
