Rustenburg – The August outing will be on Saturday, 19 August. This is a week earlier than our regular outing date!

The format will be that of a training workshop for the Birdlasser programme (App).

Ernst Retief, Regional Conservation Officer of BirdLife South Africa has the following to say:

“Birdlasser is a wonderful app for recording your bird sightings on your mobile phone, keeping trip lists and life lists, for submitting data to SABAP2 and supporting various conservation causes. On 19 August a workshop about the mobile app will be held in Rustenburg, hosted by Birdlife Rustenburg.

The venue is the Methodist Church Hall, corner Brink and Schuurman Streets, Rustenburg. Entrance to the hall is in Schuurman Street. The workshop will start at 10h00 and be finished by 12h30. Light refreshments will be available. For more info please email Helen Badenhorst at

The workshop will be presented by Henk Nel, from BirdLasser, and Ernst Retief, from BirdLife South Africa.

“There are no costs involved. Participants are asked to load BirdLasser before the workshop and also register (the app can be downloaded from the PlayStore for Android based phones and the App Store for iOS based phones). Just search for BirdLasser and follow the instructions. Ernst and Henk will also be available before the workshop to assist with installing the app if needed. For more information about BirdLasser visit or email”
