R300 000 bust at Pilanesberg Airport
Pilanesberg – On Saturday, 22 April 2017, members of the Rustenburg Police patrolled the area of the Pilanesberg International Airport. At 05h56, Cst MD Nkotswe and Constable BA Ramogale, were in the vicinity of the airport and pulled over a white Hyundai H100 truck, reg JMM363NW, carrying suspected stolen property.
The property was seized and handed over to the Sun City police. The four suspects could not supply a valid explanation for the possession of the goods, and were arrested.
They were detained by the Sun City Police and appeared before the Mogwase Magistrates’ Court. They are Onias Muzezewa, Meshack Kokera, Bennet Hlangwane and Joseph Majeke.
The seized property includes Eskom pylon to the value of R300 000.00. The electricity pylon was dismantled piece by piece and transported on the Hyundai truck.
“Additional charges of bribery were added, as the suspects endeavoured to bribe the two young police officials. The officials are commended for staying true to the principles of our policing Code of Conduct. This action speaks of courage and commitment to service delivery. The members are setting a sterling example of how police members are expected to operate in the policing environment,” Captain Elsabé Augoustides, police spokesperson, said.
