Rustenburg – Rustenburg Cycling Club (RCC) members enjoy taking part in various competitions and are even prepared to travel long distances for a thrilling and healthy experience.

These enthusiastic competitors enjoy their sport so much that they recently travelled from Rustenburg to Cape Town, more than 1 400km, to take part in this year’s prestigious Cape Town Cycle Tour.

The Cape Town Cycle Tour, which took place on Sunday 8 March, is now one of the world’s leading cycle events.

This year’s race was the 42nd in the history of the competition and attracted a massive 30 000 cyclists from South Africa and other parts of the world.

Well done to Michele Birks and Johan van der Merwe, who both completed the 109km in a great time.

Meanwhile, the Gauteng XCO League 2 was held on Saturday 14 March at Thaba Trails in Gauteng. Well done to RCC’s Caitlin Thompson for coming out tops in her event.

Kita Uys and Lauriesian Brett also performed exceptionally well and finished second and third respectively.
