The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is distressed by unscrupulous shop owners who illegally use its name to target social grants beneficiaries. In certain recent instances, beneficiaries fell prey to scammers.

SASSA’s management team strongly disassociates itself from this illegal practice and warns perpetrators to immediately refrain from using its name, remove, pull, retract and/or destroy all posters, which has SASSA’s logo and/or name. Failing in doing so could result in legal steps.

“According to the SASSA act 09 of 2004, the unauthorised usage of the SASSA logo and name, in any manner, constitutes a serious offense.

There will be no leniency shown to anyone using our name and logo to prey on social grant beneficiaries,” said SASSA North West regional executive manager Zodwa Mvulane.
