KEEPING KIDS SAFE
Rustenburg – Police officers from Rustenburg SAPS paid a visit to David Brink Primary School on Wednesday 4 September, as part of their crime prevention and community safety programme.
It was an unforgettable experience for the learners, who were fascinated by the officers on horseback who demonstrated their crime-fighting techniques. Bobby the Rescue Dog from the SAPS K9-unit interacted with the learners.
Police spokesperson captain Elsabé Augoustides said regular visits to schools have become an important crime fighting initiative.
“Learners must know that the police are friendly and that they can phone them on 10111 if they have an emergency,” she added in an interview with Platinum Weekly.
“Members of the mounted unit and the highway patrol accompanied us to the school. We warned the children to avoid getting lost in shopping centres or when they go camping with their families.”
The enthusiastic learners were also advised on the correct way to cross the road when walking to and from school.
