Rustenburg -.Have you or anyone you know ever been embarrassed by a drinker’s behaviour, search for hidden alcohol, poured alcohol down the sink or had to cancel plans because the drinker is unable to participate?

Let Hope Arise Al-Anon Family Group is a support group that has been helping family members cope with the devastating effects of addiction in Rustenburg since June 2018.

The Al-Anon Family Group is a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope in order to solve addiction problems. They believe alcoholism is an illness that effects the entire family, and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.

Al-Anon was co-founded in 1951, 16 years after the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous on 10 June 1935, by Anne B and Lois W, wife of AA co-founder Bill W.

Al-Anon has but one purpose, to help families of alcoholics. They do this by practising the 12 steps of AA themselves, by welcoming and giving comfort and support  to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.

The weekly Al-Anon meeting takes place on Monday evening, 19:00 at Residentia Sering, 151 Kock Street, Rustenburg.
