Rustenburg – On Thursday 25 July at 15:30, a man described as a bearded scaled the wall of a house in Olienhout avenue and broke into the main bedroom.


He placed valuables in carry bags that he scavenged throughout the house. He placed his loot next to the wall (see photo). 


The suspect then noticed that an 84-year old woman, who resides at the back of the premises, saw him and proceeded to grab her and tie her to a chair. 


According to police spokesperson captain Elsabé Augoustides, he took her cash, bank cards and demanded her firearms and car keys.


He abandoned almost all of the loot he gathered, except for a computer box and some small items. He drove off with the victim’s Volkswagen Jetta with registration number JFT823NW. 


The elderly lady was taken to a local hospital for shock and injuries sustained. 
The Police are investigating a case of house robbery.
