Rustenburg – Jaco Fourie is well on the path to recovering from the devastating injuries he suffered on 24 March 2018 during a car accident.

The 21-year old student-teacher and avid rugby player was visibly jovial as he interacted with his family and close friends at the Libertas Wedding & Function Venue on Saturday 27 July during a fundraising event for his medical costs and rehabilitation.

Miemie Leenen, owner of Libertas, provided out the venue for free in support of Jaco’s road to recovery. “We are happy with his progress and I urge more people to find it in their hearts to give.”
True to his love of rugby, Jaco made it a point to first watch the Springbok match against the All Blacks before joining his family and friends for the social activities.

Many people heeded the call to help Jaco by turning out in their numbers to support this worthy cause.

Musical performances from Armand van der Merwe, Billy Jean and others kept everyone entertained while the jumping castle ensured endless hours of fun for the children.

Jaco Fourie Senior (Jaco’s dad), was visibly overjoyed with the progress the student-teacher is making since sustaining a C2 neck fracture, a hip fracture and lung injuries.

He said being with his family continues to accelerate the healing process. “Jaco is gaining more weight. This means he is becoming healthier. We are grateful for the assistance from the community. Our next goal is to raise R24,000 for a wheelchair that can support him while he is in an upright position,” said Jaco Fourie Senior.
