Rustenburg – The Newrak Impala rugby team has put their loss to Naka Bulle behind them and will be hoping for better fortunes when they come up against East Rand United on Saturday 27 July.

On Saturday 20 July, the Rustenburg-based team put up a spirited fight in front of their home crowd but still went down 34-26 to Naka Bulle, despite enjoying a 26-10 lead at one point during the match.
The 2019 Gold Cup champions failed to defend their lead and eventually lost the game after a commendable fight by the visitors.

Naas Olivier, Newrak Impala rugby club’s business manager said despite the defeat, the team has been encouraged by the positive aspects of that game and are looking forward to an improved performance against East Rand.

“Maverick van der Merwe, Itu Mpete and the other players did very well. We played some really good rugby during that match and the plan is to build on a positive attitude,” Naas said.
