Brits/ Thabazimbi – Three men, ages between 30 and 49, appeared before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday 3 June following their arrest for the murder of a woman.

The three were arrested on Thursday 30 May after attempting to evade the police during a high-speed car chase.

Police spokesperson colonel Adéle Myburgh said farmworkers at Sundrift near Brits became suspicious when they spotted three occupants of a white Volkswagen Golf dumping the body of the woman.

“They alerted their employer, who reported the incident to the local Community Police Forum (CPF) and the police,” Adéle said.

“The vehicle of the suspects was spotted by the police along the R511 Brits-Thabazimbi road.

They were arrested after their car, which made a U-turn during the chase, collided with a police vehicle,” Adéle added.

Investigations have led the police to believe the suspects offered the woman a lift near Brits before killing her. Her body was found with numerous injuries, which include multiple stab wounds and a fractured skull.

Anyone with information that can assist in identifying the deceased woman is requested to contact the investigating officer, sergeant Lucky Molefe on 082 809 6722 or lieutenant colonel Nkgodi Chale on 082 546 0382.
