Rustenburg – After the nation came together to vote on 8 May at various voting stations, residents near the voting stations had to deal with scattered litter left behind.

In an interview with Platinum Weekly, one Rustenburg resident said that the area behind her house was a mess after election-day.

“For the past 16 years, we have kept the area behind our house clean at our own expense. We spoke with the election officials, who promised to clean after they’ve left… but to no avail.

They did not even bother to remove the plastic tape. They gathered some trash in refuse bags, but left it for me.”

This comes after the streets of Rustenburg are still littered by election posters.
