Rustenburg/ Sun City – A 40-year old mother was arrested for allegedly assaulting her son’s educator on Friday, 22 February at about 07:00 at Leema Primary School in Tlhatlhaganyane near Sun City.


It is alleged that teacher was in the company of two of her colleagues and about to enter school premises, when the mother confronted her at the gate. According to information received, the mother accused the teacher of mistreating her child, and said ‘it was time to teach her a lesson’.


The educator was still responding when the mother attacked her with an umbrella. The teacher was repeatedly assaulted. She sustained bruises and open wounds, to her hands and head. 
According to police spokesperson captain Sam Tselanyane, the mother fled the scene after the incident. 


Police who were called to the school were still obtaining the educator’s statement when members of the community brought the mother back and handed her over to the police. She was arrested and investigations continue.
