Rustenburg – The Rustenburg Local Municipality’s (RLM) executive mayor councillor Mpho Khunou, had an exclusive interview on eTV’s breakfast show – The Morning Show on Tuesday 26 February.

The purpose of the interview was to shed light on a number of key milestones in relation to service delivery, during his second term as executive mayor.

The mayor dismissed claims that the municipality is ridden with corruption and failing to act. “Last year alone, seven municipal officials were dismissed following the findings of a forensic investigation, as resolved by council into tender and supply chain management irregularities,” Khunou said.

He highlighted that in the last five years, after being rocked by a fleet management leasing scandal, the municipal council had taken a decision to finance the purchasing of new vehicles, with the aim of accelerating service delivery while replacing aged fleet.

“We are excited that land has been set aside for the construction of a university. We also intend on building an international convention centre with the aim of opening up Rustenburg to regional and international markets.”
