Rustenburg – In April this year, the Gauteng national bureau for illegal firearm control and priority violent crime unit (NBIFCPVC) and Rustenburg crime intelligence unit registered a project to address unlawful dealing of commercial explosives.


Several undercover operations were held stretching across four provinces which culminated in the recent apprehension of suspects and the removal of an assortment of commercial explosives.


The operation culminated with the arrest of four suspects aged between 40 and 53 years in Rustenburg on 28 November. Over R200 000 worth of commercial explosives were confiscated. 


The suspects made their first appearance before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on 29 November.
