Safety – finally a priority
Rustenburg – Students of Grenswag High School face unnecessary danger on a daily basis while crossing the R510. The constant onslaught of traffic with speeding taxis, busses and private cars whilst trying to cross this extremely dangerous road, had teachers, parents and pupils biting their nails.
As previously reported in the Platinum Weekly, in the past month two students were hit by vehicles on this road.
In an interview with Martha Lerm, councillor of ward 18, she confirmed that at last the call for help did not fall on deaf ears. In a meeting with the member of the municipal council (MMC) of roads and transport; the acting director, other officials from the roads directorate and public safety, a decision was made to make this road safer to cross.
Over the school holiday, speedhumps and a crossing will be erected.
