Koster – The premier of the North West Province, Job Mokgoro; Mayor of Kgetleng River Municipality, Kim Medupe; and MEC for Social Development, Hoffman Galeng, addressed thousands of mourners at the funeral service of the seven Mafoko family members in Reagile, Koster on the 14 September.

The seven family members perished in a fire that was allegedly caused by a burning candle. However, this was not yet confirmed by the forensic experts investigating the incident, Sannah Magakgana Kgetleng Municipality told Platinum Weekly.

“The Municipality, Premier’s Office and SASSA supported the family,” Magakgana said.
The mother of six children, Boitumelo Mafoko, died; together with her four children, Dibueng Mafoko (22), Boikanyo Mafoko (19), Munga Mafoko (3), Mpopo Mafoko (2) and her grandchildren Koketso Mafoko (3) and Sanga (9 months old).

“It was a very sad sight watching the seven coffins,” Magakgana said.  Two young boys Kea (7) and Kuru Mafoko (10) and their father Samual Vettas survived the incident.
