Rustenburg – Two men, who allegedly robbed a Chinese national of an undisclosed amount of cash and a firearm, appeared before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 25 July.


The two suspects, Thebeetsile Matenge (43) and Modise Moenyana (38) first appeared before the same court on two charges of illegal possession of firearms and robbery on 18 July.


Spokesperson sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi said that the Chinese national businessman was attacked by more than four suspects at a parking area in the central business area (CBD).

“The suspects then sped off in a white Audi which was later traced by the K9 unit at a residential complex in Waterkloof. Matenge and Moeyane was arrested after being found in possession of two pistols, one that belongs to the Chinese national businessman and the other one with its serial numbers filed off. Both suspects were remanded in custody and investigations continue.”
