Rustenburg – With a passion for racing since 2000, the moment of glory finally came for young Mohamed Yacoob when he took “driver of the night” title at the Platinum Raceway on Saturday, 28 April.

His biggest competitor of the night, Japie Cilliers, had to rub his eyes in disbelief as the young Yacoob scooped the honours right in front of him. In an interview with Platinum Weekly, Yacoob attributed his success to Marius Kruger, Christo Kruger and his father Unus Yacoob.

“Winning and staying positive were the main motivating factors when I went into the track,” he said.
Yacoob said he was grateful to have a team of supporters throughout his rise in the track.

His list included his uncle,
Piet who helped build the motor, RnL Scrapyard, Sams Motor Spares who helped with the engine, Pro Auto Towing and members of his family, especially his sister Aadilah for the best stickers.
