Rustenburg – A 17-year old girl was rescued from a brothel in Rustenburg on Friday, 17 November.
Members of the Rustenburg Local Municipality (RLM) in cooperation with the Police and other departments removed the girl and returned her to her family.

“We must continue to raise awareness about human trafficking and drug abuse in our city,” says councillor Mpho Khunou, mayor of Rustenburg. “Brothels presented as guest houses are mushrooming in Rustenburg. We will not stop untill we have eradicated human trafficking and drug abuse in Rustenburg. We have issued notices and two of the buildings will be demolished.”

In the joint special operation in Rustenburg East on 17 November, another four girls were rescued (three black girls aged between 18-21, and one white girl, aged 12 years).
