Rustenburg – Zinniaville Secondary School performed excellent at a gala event hosted by the Department of Education and Sport Development on Saturday, 21 October. This was the provincial round for the national teachers’ awards, and held at the Carousel in Hammanskraal.

Mr Nabeel Ismail and Mrs Ayesha Ismail (not related) were handsomely rewarded for their hard work and dedication and proved successful when they both walked away with accolades.

Mr Nabeel Ismail took first position for Excellence in Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning. He beat three other candidates from Kopanang, Thea Morafe and Laba Primary Schools. Mr Ismail won prizes to the value of R10 000 as well as a trophy and certificate. Mr Ismail will now go on to Nationals which will take place next year in February 2018.

Mrs Ayesha Ismail, who entered in the category for Excellence in Natural Sciences Teaching, won second place for her efforts. Mrs Ismail also received prizes and gifts to value of R10 000 and a trophy and certificate.

This momentous occasion was celebrated by everyone at Zinniaville Secondary School when both Mr Nabeel Ismail and Mrs Ayesha Ismail were given a warm reception and guard of honour. Mr Ismail and Mrs Ismail were beaming with pride when they were received with congratulatory shouts and applause. 

Zinniaville Secondary School is extremely proud of all their educators. They already have two NTA winners, Mrs Saloojee in 2011 as well as Mrs Kola, their most recent winner for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching.
