Robbery at Local Butchery Ends in Gunfire

Rustenburg – A daring daylight robbery at a well-known butchery in Rustenburg was swiftly cut short on Saturday afternoon, 5 April 2025, when the business owner fired back at suspects, fatally wounding one of them.

The butchery became the scene of a business robbery when three armed men entered the premises. According to sergeant Ofentse Mokgadi, the suspects threatened staff and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the tills and office, along with a cellphone.

During the incident, the complainant was physically assaulted. As the robbers fled in a white BMW (registration unknown), the complainant retrieved his privately owned firearm and shot at the suspects. One was fatally struck, while the vehicle, also hit, managed to escape with the remaining suspects.

Acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2 commissioner, brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, confirmed that the matter is under investigation and that police are following up on several promising leads. 

Brigadier Ntoagae urged community members to assist in the investigation by reporting any information that could help police track down the remaining suspects.
